Simona Vintilă

Simona Vintilă was born in 1973 in Sibiu. In 1996 she graduated from the Faculty of Letters, English-Romanian Department, and in 1997 she obtained a Master's degree in English and American Studies. In 2002 she graduated from the Faculty of Music and Theatre in Timișoara, German Language Acting section, and in 2010 she obtained a Master's degree in Contemporary Performance Direction at the University of Arts in Târgu-Mureș.


She debuted at German State Theatre Timisoara as an actress in 1999 and as a stage director in 2007. She has directed theater performances in Sibiu at Gong Theatre, in Arad at "Ioan Slavici" Classical Theatre, in Timișoara at GSTT, in Târgu Mureș at UAT Studio and in Petroșani at "I.D. Sîrbu" Dramatic Theatre. She has participated and held theatre workshops in Romania and abroad. 


Simona's performances include Leonce and Lena by Georg Büchner as the Spy; A Midsummer Night's Dream by William Shakespeare as Dandelion; Lysistrata 3.0 by Aristophanes as Sostrata; The Theatre by Pascal Rambert as Simona. 


She has collaborated, among others, with directors like Victor Ioan Frunză, Alexander Hausvater, Ulf Dückelman, Niky Wolcz, Bernd Guhr, Theodor-Cristian Popescu, Antoine Benoit, Scott Johnston și Volker Schmidt, Kristóf Szabó, Pascal Rambert.


Since 2014 she has been an associate professor at the Department of Performing Arts (German language) of the Faculty of Music and Theatre in Timisoara. In 2021 she obtained the scientific title of PhD in the field of Performing Arts with the thesis "The German State Theatre of Timișoara - a model of survival in the Romanian cultural space".


Simona Vintilă is also the author of the plays Blessed and Go.Dot and of the monograph The German State Theatre of Timișoara - from minority theatre to performance theatre.
