“Kali Traš“ is not just another story. “Kali Traš“ is, perhaps, the most important and painful story of the roma. Kali Traš ( The Black Fear in the Roma language) is one of the names given by the Roma people to the extermination plan initiated by the fascist regimes of the Second World War. Alongside a Roma itinerant touring company, we will take a journey during the last century and witness a fragment of the Roma Holocaust. Our starting point is Valerică Sănescu`s book „Death in my eyes”, a survivor of the genocide, and witness how Diloda, Șopârla, Leanca and Franț`s lives – actors, puppeteers, fortunetellers and musicians – change when they are deported in Transnistria, in the Bug camps. Coerced to live inhumanly, battling freezing temperatures, hunger and cholera, they all dream of returning back home. Will they manage to get back to Romania? If not, who will keep the memory of their suffering alive, in hopes that history will not repeat itself? How will they return to their joyful theater from the sinister spectacle of the Roma genocide?
