Lucian Vărșăndan talks about the development of the German State Theatre

Lucian Vărșăndan, Secretary of State within the Ministry of Culture, will hold a lecture entitled „Changes and new directions of the German State Theatre after 1989”  on

Tuesday, the 30th of August 2016, at 16,15

at the „Adam Müller-Guttenbrunn“ House in Timișoara.

The text approaches the paradigm route imposed on the theatre, from an institution aimed exclusively to German minorities, with significant existential concerns at the moment of the Revolution in 1989, to becoming one of the most  important producers in Romania, with a changed and diverse audience.

The lecture is held within the „Banat in perspective: Change- memory- identity” conference, organized on the 30th and 31st of August 2016 in Timisoara by   Deutsche Gesellschaft e. V. (German Society), in collaboration with the „Konrad Adenauer” Foundation, the Democratic Forum of Germans in Romania, the Banat Regional Forum and the Banat Swabiens Asociation in Germany.

Vărșăndan is the director of the German State Theatre Timisoara since 2007. During his mandate as Secretary of State, his management contract is suspended. The theatre is led by actress Ioana Iacob in his absence, as interim manager.
