Marking the second collaboration between director Carmen Lidia Vidu and GSTT, Humans. For Sale is a documentary theatre project that, like Romanian Diary. Timișoara, blends film, theatre, and photography. While official propaganda warned of the "abysses" of the free world, Romania was witnessing what is likely the largest human trafficking operation of the 20th century. Humans. For Sale sheds light on the trade of ethnic Germans from Communist Romania, who were sold to the Federal Republic of Germany between 1969 and 1989. It is a performance about the lessening of a community, the efforts its members made to escape a hostile environment, and the demonization of their desire to dream of a freer, more citizen-friendly future.
