"A Christmas Carol" - a new premiere at the German State Theater Timișoara

We started rehearsals for a new premiere, the children's production "A Christmas Carol", an adaptation of the famous novella by Charles Dickens. The staging is by Taniei Drăghici, the dramaturgy by Mira Țâra and the music by Flavian Chitic. The sets and costumes are signed by Ioana Popescu, scenographer of the German State Theater Timișoara.

It's a frosty evening, but it's not as cold outside as it is in Scrooge's office and in Scrooge's heart. It's Christmas Eve, everyone is getting ready to celebrate, except Scrooge, who hates Christmas. And yet, he is in for a Christmas to remember. Will it be enough to change his mind?

The cast includes Radu Vulpe, Franz Kattesch, Dana Borteanu, Daniela Török, Daniela Török, Simona Vintilă, Robert Bogdanov-Schein, Aida Olaru, Boris Gaza, Isa Berger, Yannick Becker. 

Charles Dickens (1812 - 1870) was an English novelist, journalist, novelist and social critic. He created some of literature's best-known characters and is considered by many to be the greatest novelist of the Victorian era. His works enjoyed unprecedented popularity during his lifetime, and by the 20th century, critics and scholars recognized him as a literary genius. His novels and short stories are widely read today. Many of them have been adapted for film, theatre and opera.

Tania Draghici is a 24-year-old theater director. She graduated from the Theater Directing Department of the National University of Theater and Cinematographic Art "I.L. Caragiale". She has participated in Theatre Networking Talents 2023 and has directed a radio play at Improbabil Theater, as well as two reading performances within the New Drama project.

Her graduation production, "Are the Fish Sleeping?", was presented at Theatre Networking Talents, Undercloud Festival, ID Fest and Ideo Ideis, and since September 2024 it is part of the repertoire of the Metropolis Theatre in Bucharest. At the same time, Tania has directed the production Mother's Eyes, an adaptation of the novel "The Summer My Mother Had Green Eyes" by Tatiana Țîbuleac, at Replika Educational Theatre Center.
