February, the month of love, is just around the corner! Where better to share a kiss than in the dark of a theatre hall? But only before the performance begins.Until January 24, …
The German State Theatre Timișoara (GSTT) continues its international theatrical dialogue and strengthens cultural partnerships by hosting two guest performances from the Bruchsal State Theatre (Germany), presented as part of the 2025–2026 season.
The audience in Timișoara is invited to discover two productions representative of contemporary German theatre, which bring to the stage distinct artistic perspectives and landmark texts of European dramaturgy.
The first performance, “else (someone)”, scheduled for Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at 7:30 p.m., is a free adaptation inspired by the universe of Arthur Schnitzler, directed by Gina Jasmina Wannenwetsch. The production offers a sensitive and timely exploration of identity, interpersonal relationships, and the intimate mechanisms of memory and desire. This introspective inquiry is enhanced by a contemporary stage language in which narrative fragmentation and visual expressiveness become essential tools of psychological analysis.
The second evening, Thursday, January 22, 2026, at 7:30 p.m., is dedicated to “JEDER*MANN”, inspired by the famous play by Hugo von Hofmannsthal and directed by Wolf E. Rahlfs. The staging provides a contemporary reinterpretation of the classical text, foregrounding universal themes such as responsibility, the transience of existence, and the individual’s confrontation with their own choices. Through a modern aesthetic and a rigorous scenic construction, the performance amplifies the moral parable of the original work and brings it closer to the sensibilities of today’s audience.
Hosting these two performances continues the tradition of collaboration between the German State Theatre Timișoara and the Bruchsal State Theatre, a partnership developed over time through constant artistic exchanges. In the spring of 2025, the German State Theatre was invited to Bruchsal with the production “Romanian Diary. Timișoara” (directed by Carmen Lidia Vidu), presented in the context of the German institution’s 75th anniversary.
Through these events, GSTT reaffirms its mission to facilitate meaningful cultural encounters and to bring international productions to the local stage, enriching the European artistic dialogue.
The performances take place at the GSTT headquarters. Information about tickets and the program is available at https://teatrulgerman.ro/en or at the theatre’s box office, 2 Alba Iulia Street.
We look forward to welcoming you to the theatre!
