On the 21st of May 2016 former colleague of the GSTT, director, writer and scenographer Bogdan Ulmu pased away.
Bogdan
Ulmu was born on the 29th of April 1951 in Bucharest. He was the
director of over 140 shows, as well as the scenographer of over 60 stage
designs.
He has over 40 scripts that have
either been played or broadcasted. He has published 21 books. Numerous
tours, theatre festivals he has participated in are other elements that
have enriched his experience.
The name of Bodgan Ulmu is tied to the birth of significant plays of the German State Theatre Timişoara (GSTT) in the 80s of the last century, a time when Ulm worked at our institution.
Among
them, we would like to mention: "Preșul" ["The welcome mat"] by Ion
Băieşu (1982), "Marriage" by Gogol (1983), "Elogiul nebuniei" ["In
Praise of madness"] by Dumitru Solomon (1983), "Chiriţa în provincie"
["Chiriţa in the province"] by Alecsandri (1984), "Spring's Awakening"
by Frank Wedekind (1984), "Copii și părinți" ["Children and parents"]
by Ion Băieşu (1985) etc.
After 2000 he returned
to GSTT as a collaborator, staging the plays "The situation is out of
control" by Ray Cooney (2000) and "Leonce and Lena" by Georg Büchner
(2002) as well as the collage the world of Caragiale (2002) .
Bogdan Ulm was a academic, scientific secretary and doctoral supervisor, working across
disciplines within universities in the country. He was a member of the
Writers Union of Romania and UNITER, as well as the International
Association of Theatre Critics. He was part of many national and
international juries.
The German State Theatre expresses its entire sympathy to the bereaved family.
