Struwwelpeter. A Junk Opera reinterprets the classic stories of Heinrich Hoffmann with a mischievous and comedic twist, incorporating cabaret-style musical numbers and transforming the playful world of children into an entertaining spectacle for adults.
Dragoș Mușoiu studied theatre directing at the National University of Theatre and Film (UNATC) "I.L. Caragiale" in Bucharest and has been actively working as a director in various theatres across Romania since 2015. His collaborations include prestigious public institutions such as the National Theatre in Bucharest, the Marin Sorescu National Theatre in Craiova, the Comedy Theatre, the Northern Theatre in Satu Mare, and the Masca Theatre in Bucharest. Additionally, he has worked in the independent theatre scene, creating productions at Teatrul Apropo, unteatru, and Point Art Hub (Bucharest), with his most frequent collaborations taking place at Reactor de Creație și Experiment in Cluj-Napoca.
He has explored a variety of theatre forms, from documentary to popular theatre, from site-specific productions to children's theatre. In recent years, he has become increasingly interested in original, experimental musicals addressing pressing social themes. A key example is THE DREAM, written by Alexei Băcanu, with original music composed by 11 musicians. The production was created by Reactor de Creație și Experiment and co-financed by the National Cultural Fund Administration (AFCN). THE DREAM has successfully participated in major theatre festivals in Romania (including FITS Sibiu and FNT Bucharest) and was awarded the Theatre Prize by Radio România Cultural in 2023.
See you at the premiere!
