Impuls Theater is a theatre education project that aims to create a bridge between theatre, education, and community, addressing students and teachers from Timiș County.
Starting from three plays in the repertoire of the German State Theatre Timișoara, with social-historical and documentary themes, the project seeks to offer young people a comprehensive cultural experience that goes beyond simply watching a performance. Participants are involved in activities of preparation, analysis, and reflection, within a pedagogical approach that emphasizes information, critical thinking, analytical ability, empathy, and understanding of contemporary historical and social realities.
The three plays invite critical reflection on history and humanity, tackling socially relevant themes rooted in reality. They focus on identity, memory, and collective trauma, using both documentary and metaphorical directorial approaches.
“Oameni de vânzare” (Humans. For Sale, directed by Carmen Lidia Vidu) explores the collective memory and traumas of the German community sold by the communist regime to West Germany.
“Sidy Thal” (directed by Clemens Bechtel) reconstructs the story of the attack in Timișoara on a Jewish artist from Chernivtsi, in the context of the Holocaust and lost memory.
“The Dragon” (directed by Yuri Kordonski) is a political allegory about dictatorship, manipulation, and fear in society, reflecting oppressive systems.
Thus, the German State Theatre Timișoara proposes a theatre education project that enhances the value of its performances through the creation of educational and informational materials.
Impuls Teatru is co-financed by the Timiș County Council, through the “TimCultura 2025” program.
